Produktbeschreibung

Chia Seeds – Valuable Nutrients for a Balanced Bird Diet

Chia seeds (Salvia hispanica) are a popular supplement in the diet of many pet birds due to their high-quality ingredients. They provide valuable omega-3 fatty acids, high-quality plant protein, fiber, antioxidants, and important minerals such as calcium. This enriches the diet and contributes to a varied and balanced feeding regime.

Your Advantages at a Glance

  • Rich in omega-3 fatty acids – valuable unsaturated fatty acids for a balanced diet.
  • High content of proteins and fiber – supports a varied feed composition.
  • Natural source of calcium and antioxidants.
  • Ideal as a supplementary feed for parrots, parakeets, canaries, finches, and many other pet bird species.
  • Also suitable for sprouting – for fresh, nutrient-rich sprouts.

Feeding Recommendation

Due to their strong swelling capacity, chia seeds should only be fed in small quantities. As a guideline, we recommend a maximum of 5% of the daily feed ration or as a component of high-quality feed mixtures.

For particularly good digestibility, the seeds can be soaked in water before feeding. This forms a natural gel, which makes the seeds particularly juicy and provides additional variety in the food bowl.

Versatile Use

  • As a supplement to daily grain feed
  • In high-quality feed mixtures
  • As fresh sprouting seeds for natural enrichment
  • For a varied diet

Dr. Bürkle's Tip:

Soak chia seeds in water for several hours before feeding or let them sprout. This way, you offer your birds a particularly tasty and natural supplement that provides variety and promotes natural feeding behavior.
