Produktbeschreibung

Chia seeds – a valuable addition to bird nutrition

Chia seeds (Salvia hispanica) are a high-quality single seed and a varied supplement for parrots, parakeets, canaries, finches, and many other ornamental birds.

They naturally contain omega-3 fatty acids, plant-based protein, dietary fiber, and minerals and can be offered in small amounts to complement a balanced diet.

Feeding recommendation

Due to their strong swelling capacity, chia seeds should only be fed in small quantities. As a guideline, we recommend a proportion of no more than 5% of the daily feed ration or as a component of high-quality feed mixes.

For particularly good digestibility, the seeds can be soaked in water before feeding. This forms a natural gel, making the seeds extra succulent and providing additional variety in the feed bowl.

Versatile in use

  • As a supplement to daily seed feed
  • In high-quality feed mixes
  • As fresh sprouted seeds for natural enrichment
  • To add variety to the diet

Dr. Bürkle’s tip:

Soak chia seeds in water for a few hours before feeding or let them sprout. This offers your birds a particularly tasty and natural supplement that provides variety and encourages natural foraging behavior.
