The main feed "Balance" was specially developed for overweight Amazon parrots or those with low energy requirements. This reduced-calorie mix contains no sunflower seeds, but relies on small, nutrient-rich oilseeds.

The feed mix consists of 44.5% starchy seeds, 28% oilseeds, 13.5% vegetables, 12% fruits and berries, and 2% herbs. It is important not to completely eliminate oilseeds from overweight Amazon parrots, as they provide vital energy, essential fatty acids, and vitamins. The correct mix and ratio to the bird's energy needs are crucial.

Unfortunately, obesity is one of the most common causes of illness in Amazon parrots, especially those kept indoors. It is by no means harmless and can lead to internal organ problems. Discoloration of the plumage often indicates liver damage. If your bird needs to lose weight, this must be done slowly and carefully. In addition to a balanced diet, it is important to encourage overweight birds, or those prone to weight gain, to get more exercise.
